Opening Day October 10, 2009

Once again, our third year opening day was a huge success. The whole community came out to support our store. This years new addition to Attuliit was a small kitchen located at the entrance. This kitchen will allow the students to prepare simple foods such as sandwiches and pizza to sell to our customers.

Our Profits

The profits generated from the store serve 2 purposes. The first being most of the profits are re-invested into the store. Every summer I purchase goods for the whole school year. Kativik School Board graciously picks up the boxes and ships them to Salluit from Sudbury, Ontario. This is a time consuming project on its own. This years order consisted of approximately 190 boxes of goods for the store.

The second purpose is for a planned school trip to the south. A part of the profits are divided between the students for their spending money. This June, we will be going to Montreal, Toronto and Niagara Falls for 2 weeks. Nakurmiik to all the people of Salluit and visitors from other communities for supporting our store. We provide the community with a store that offers bargain prices. Attuliit is a place to shop with little money, you can always find something interesting to buy.

Thank you, Paul Maggiolo IPL teacher
