Individualized Pathways of Learning

Schools in Nunavik have been implementing alternative education programs for inuit youth in danger of dropping out of school. Initially, this was done through guidance activities and school projects developing self-esteem, regular practice of sports and recreational activities, and academic success. Focus was put on creating a positive learning environment in schools and promoting responsible attitudes among inuit youth.
In time, the projects focused more on developing life skills and work skills. The aim was to help students successfully enter the workforce. Consequently, we develop job simulations, small business creation and work placement projects. In order to succeed, we defined the orientation and the objectives of the IPL Program as well as the role of all partners and started designing tools to evaluate the impact of our projects.
